How commissions work - FAQ

  • You can approach me with a very clear expectation, or only vague idea. We will discuss it and hopefully land on a common ground for a concept and of course a delivery date. We will take all the time we need to make sure we both want the same thing, and once we are on the same page, we will move forward !


    Things that can help : sending me a lot of pictures, speaking in detail about your expectations, who you are (or who the person you want me to paint is). (As a portraitist, it really helps me to understand the person I am painting to make the final work more meaningful. You might be scared to overshare but I assure you I am happy to listen and I will make sure to use what information is necessary and I will only keep your pictures as I am working on the portrait and will delete them after.)

    You can also send me references of my own works that you liked, so that I understand exactly what It is that drew you to me :)

  • I usually work in an A3 format minimum for human portraits, because it is a comfortable way for me to ensure the details and faces being readable.
    However, I can tailor to your needs and work bigger, and I can work smaller when it comes to animal portraits.

    A rough idea of a budget is :

    A4 : 250€

    A3 : 500€

    In this budget, I include shipping and a couple of corrections throughout each stage of painting.

    I also sell reproduction rights for an additional fee. What this means is that I will send you several high quality digital files of your painting as well as the original, and a handful of test prints - and you will have bought yourself the possibility of printing your own reproductions (for personal use only). This is a great add-on if you are thinking of commissioning me with a wedding portrait and using the painting on personalised wedding stationary for example.

  • Before I start working on your actual painting, I will first try to find a perfect composition and a coherent color palette. I will send you two sketches : a rough composition sketch, as well as a rough color sketch (most probably digital)
    Feel free to give me feedback : it will help me adjust and be the closest I can be to your expectations !

    When you accept my sketch and palette, I can then start painting !


  • I can finally start painting when the final sketch has been approved : it should be rather unsurprising if you already know about the composition and color palette. But with that said, you can always give me feedback as I go and send you picture updates of how the painting is going. I work with acrylics and they are a rather flexible medium that allows for seamless alterations !

    I can send you updates via Whatsapp or Insta if it makes you happy to see progress pictures. When we are both satisfied, I will sign the painting and consider it done !

  • I will send you the painting very carefully packaged, it will be your responsibility to frame it. I always use tracked shipping and my insurance will take care of everything until you receive the painting.

    I am still working on international shipping and its many challenges. I should be allowed to send up to an A3 painting as a tracked letter in a flat cardboard enveloppe, even to the US.
